Family Planning Counseling is an essential component of our mission to protect and support every person's right to make voluntary, informed decisions about sexuality and reproduction.

There are many occasions when clients might receive counseling on birth control/family planning, such as during an annual exam, a visit for STI testing and treatment, for pregnancy testing, or for medical or surgical abortion.

Family planning counseling helps you to make informed choices about your reproductive options and contraceptive methods. We also explain how to use a chosen method safely and effectively. You may discuss with your clinician any questions you might have about which method is best for you, given your personal needs and values.

If you need to have your clinician take extra time to speak with you at length about family planning, please be sure to make that clear when you make an appointment. That way you can be certain there will be plenty of time to answer your questions.

While we do not offer fertility counseling or services, we are happy to refer clients to physicians and clinics that do.
